What should I set up in my first week?

Last updated

In your first week, connect Instagram and launch one comment automation from a template. Then add ice breakers, ask for emails, block spam words and publish your media kit, all on the free plan.

You do not need to set up everything at once. This plan spreads the work over a week, one small task a day. Everything here works on the free plan.

Day 1: Connect your Instagram account

  1. Open Accounts in the menu.
  2. Click Connect Instagram and sign in on Instagram’s own page.

You need a Business or Creator account. See How to connect your Instagram account.

Day 2: Launch your first comment automation

  1. Open Automations and click New automation.
  2. Under Start from a template, pick Link in comments.
  3. Add your own link, check the wording, and click Save & activate.
  4. Comment the keyword from a different Instagram account to test it.

Pick one post where people already ask for a link. See How to use automation templates.

Day 3: Add ice breakers

Ice breakers are tappable questions people see before they type to you. They do not use one of your 2 automation places.

  1. Open Ice breakers in the menu.
  2. Add your most common questions, like prices or shipping, with an answer for each.

See Ice breakers and the DM menu.

Day 4: Ask for an email

Go back to your Day 2 automation. Under Collect their contact info, choose Ask for email. People who reply are saved in your Lead Inbox.

See How to collect emails and phone numbers.

Day 5: Block spam words

  1. Open Comment Shield, then the Rules tab.
  2. Leave the type as Blocked keyword, type a word scammers use on your posts, and click Add rule.

The free plan allows up to 50 blocked words. Matching comments wait in a review inbox. Nothing is hidden until you click. See How Comment Shield works.

Day 6: Publish your media kit

  1. Open Media kit in the menu.
  2. Fill in who you are, what you cover and your rates.
  3. Turn on Publish my media kit and click Save media kit.

Now you have one link to send brands. See How to make a media kit.

Day 7: Check Account safety and your numbers

Open Account safety. It shows how many DMs went out this hour and today, against your limit. A new account sends more slowly for its first 7 days, on purpose.

Then open Analytics to see your first leads and link clicks. See How to see how your automations are doing.
