Can a DM automation tool get my Instagram account banned?
Last updated
Any automation tool carries some risk, and no tool can promise how Meta will enforce its rules. Replavia lowers the risk with the official API, paced sending, a warm-up for new accounts and one DM per comment.
Open Account safety →It is a fair worry. Your Instagram account may be your business, and you cannot afford to lose it.
The honest answer
Yes, it can happen with any tool. Meta decides how its rules are enforced, and no app can promise what Meta will do. Anyone who says their tool is risk-free is not telling you the full story.
What a tool can do is avoid the things that put accounts at risk. Here is what Replavia does, and what you can do.
What Replavia does to lower the risk
- Official API only. Replavia uses Instagram’s official API. Its permissions passed Meta App Review. There is no scraping and no password sharing. See Is Replavia approved by Meta?
- Paced sending. Each account sends up to 60 DMs an hour and 200 a day by default. A sudden burst of the same message is what spam systems look for.
- Warm-up for new accounts. A newly connected account sends fewer DMs a day for its first 7 days.
- Random spacing. Replies wait a short, random time, so they do not go out in one burst.
- One DM per comment. A person who comments many times on the same post gets one DM, not many.
- Only people who reached out. Every DM answers a comment, a story reply, a mention or a DM. Replavia never cold-messages anyone.
- No follow-gating. The person always gets what they asked for. Asking them to follow first is not allowed.
- Unsafe keywords are refused. An automation cannot use trigger words about child safety, sex, weapons, illegal drugs or gambling.
For the full list of platform rules we follow, see How Replavia follows Instagram and Meta platform rules.
What you can do
- Send what your post promised. If the post says “comment LINK for the guide”, send the guide. Surprise sales messages get reported.
- Do not raise limits on day one. Let a new account finish its warm-up. On Pro or Scale, raise limits in small steps.
- Keep messages short and useful. One clear link beats a long sales pitch.
- Avoid running two DM tools on one account. They compete for the same comments, and Replavia cannot see what the other tool sends.
- Respect STOP. If someone asks you to stop, do not message them by hand either.
Good to know
- Replavia is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Meta or Instagram.
- You can see your sending numbers at any time on Account safety. See Replavia’s sending limits.
- Following the rules lowers the risk. It does not remove it.
