# How do I pause, edit or delete an automation?

> Open Automations and use the Pause, Activate, Edit or Delete button on the automation’s row. Pausing keeps everything for later; deleting removes the automation for good but keeps the leads it captured.

## Why it matters

Campaigns end, offers change and links go out of date. You need to stop an automation fast, fix its message, or clear out old ones. All of this happens on the **Automations** screen.

## Pause or switch on

1. Open **Automations** in the menu.
2. Find the automation. If you have two or more Instagram accounts, use **Showing** to pick one account, or leave **All accounts**.
3. Click **Pause**. It stops replying straight away.
4. To switch it back on, click **Activate**.

Pausing keeps the automation, its settings and its leads. Pausing always works, on every plan and in every account state.

A draft has no **Activate** button. Open it with **Edit**, then click **Save & activate**.

## Edit an automation

1. Click **Edit** on the row, or click its name.
2. Change what you need: keywords, posts, replies or the DM.
3. Click **Save & activate** to keep it running, or **Save draft**.

If the automation is live, the screen says changes take effect as soon as you save. You do not need to pause it first.

You cannot move an automation to a different Instagram account. Create a new one for the other account instead.

## Delete an automation

Click **Delete** on the row. It is deleted at once, with no "Are you sure?" step, and it cannot be undone. If you might need it again, click **Pause** instead.

What deleting does:

- The automation and its settings are gone.
- The leads it captured stay in your [Lead Inbox](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/lead-inbox).
- Its record of who it already answered is removed. Its runs no longer count in Analytics totals.
- People it invited to follow can be invited once more by another automation. See [The follow invite](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/follow-invite).

## When you cannot switch it on

- **Paused · over plan limit** — the Free plan allows 2 automations switched on at once. Replavia pauses the extra ones when a plan changes. Pause another one, then activate this one, or upgrade. Nothing is deleted.
- **Account paused · over plan limit** — your plan allows fewer Instagram accounts. Make the account active on the **Accounts** screen first.
- **Account disconnected** — reconnect the account, then activate. You can still edit and save meanwhile. See [Reconnect Instagram](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/reconnect-instagram).
- A message says one of its keywords is not allowed — open it, remove the flagged keyword, then activate again.
- **Confirm your email address** — Replavia needs a verified account before anything goes live. Click **Get verified**.

If you are on Free and try to switch on a third automation, Replavia takes you to the upgrade page.

## The 500 limit

Your Replavia account can hold up to 500 automations in total, switched on or not. At that limit, clicking **New automation** shows a message asking you to delete one first. Deleting keeps that automation's leads.

## Good to know

- An automation with an end date stops by itself. See [Campaign end dates](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/campaign-end-dates).
- If your account is not active, you can still pause and delete, but not create, edit or activate.
- For what happens to automations when you change plans, see [What happens when you downgrade](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/what-happens-when-you-downgrade).
