# Does Replavia read or store my DMs?

> Replavia’s software checks the DMs people send you, to find your keywords, STOP requests and shared emails. It does not keep a transcript of them, except chats the AI DM assistant handles.

## The short answer

Replavia’s software reads each DM sent to your connected account, because that is how your automations work. People do not read your DMs as part of this. Replavia keeps what the automation needs, not a copy of your inbox.

## Why the software reads your DMs

Each new DM is checked for:

- a keyword that starts one of your automations,
- a STOP or unsubscribe request,
- an email or phone number the person chose to share,
- a question for the AI DM assistant, if you switched it on.

## What Replavia stores

DM history does not store the text of each DM. For scripted automations, Replavia does not save what the person typed as a transcript.

The AI DM assistant is different. It saves the messages in the chats it handles. You can then read the chat when it hands someone over to you. See [Waiting for you](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/waiting-for-you).

## How long it is kept

- Leads and assistant chats stay until you delete the lead or your account.
- Deleting a lead also deletes its saved messages. This needs Pro or Scale. See [How to delete a lead](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/delete-a-lead).
- If someone unsends the message with their email or phone, Replavia deletes that detail.
- The engine’s job queue briefly holds recent incoming events, including DM text. This lets a failed send be retried. Older entries are pushed out as new ones arrive.

## What is encrypted

These are stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM:

- your Instagram login token,
- the text of comments waiting for an AI reply,
- the text of comments that Comment Shield flags.

We do not claim more than that. The saved text of assistant chats is not separately encrypted.

## When DMs go to an AI

Only if you switch on the AI DM assistant, and only for chats it is handling. Emails and phone numbers are found and replaced first. DMs from other chats are never sent. See [Is my data used to train AI?](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/ai-privacy-and-your-data)

## Can staff read my DMs?

Our [Privacy Policy](https://stage.mydmflow.com/privacy) allows authorized staff to access messages only when needed.
