# How to connect your Instagram account

> Go to Accounts and click “Connect Instagram”, then sign in on Instagram’s own page, so Replavia never sees your password. You need an Instagram Business or Creator account.

## Before you start

Your Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account. This is Meta’s rule for automated messages, not ours. A personal account cannot connect.

Switching is free and takes a minute. In the Instagram app, open Settings, then Account type and tools, and switch to a professional account.

## Steps

1. Go to **Accounts** in the menu. The page is called **Channels**.
2. Click **Connect Instagram**. If you already have an account connected, the button is called **Connect another**.
3. Instagram’s own sign-in page opens. Sign in there and allow the access it asks for.
4. You come back to Replavia and see a green message: “Connected @yourname”.

> You sign in on Instagram, not on Replavia. Replavia never sees or stores your Instagram password. Never send your password to anyone who says they work for us.

## Confirm your email

To create or switch on an automation, you must also confirm your email address. If you have not, the Automations page shows **Get verified →**. Click it and follow the steps.

## When an account needs to reconnect

Sometimes the connection stops working. This can happen if you change your Instagram password or remove Replavia’s access in Instagram.

When this happens, Replavia:

- marks the account **Needs Reconnect** on the Channels page,
- pauses that account’s automations, so nothing fails without you knowing,
- shows a message in your dashboard and sends you an email.

Your automations and your leads are kept. Nothing is deleted.

To fix it, click **Reconnect** and sign in to Instagram again. Then go to Automations and switch your automations back on. Reconnecting does not switch them on for you. This is on purpose, so nothing starts sending again before you are ready.

## Good to know

- An account you disconnect moves to the **Disconnected** list. Its automations, leads and history stay. You can reconnect it at any time.
- The Free plan has 1 channel. Pro has up to 3, and Scale has up to 20. See [Plans and pricing](https://stage.mydmflow.com/help/plans-and-pricing).
- Instagram allows one automated reply per comment. If another DM tool is connected to the same account, the two tools race, and some DMs never arrive. Remove tools you no longer use in Instagram, under Settings and privacy, then Website permissions, then Apps and websites.
